The law in Creation

[20] And Adam GAVE NAMES to ALL cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to EVERY beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him. —GÉNESIS 2:20

A few days ago in a Facebook group someone said that Adam and Eve did not keep the Sabbath. And an Adventist lady went “to the rescue” of the word of God, and she did it this way.

Adam and Eve did keep the Sabbath, but not the first Sabbath since they did not work, and it was God who worked in creation.

Here I'm just parroting the idea of what she said, since I didn't document the post properly and it got lost on me, but if I find it I'll update this part here with the photo.

Now, it is well known that the evangelical sentiment is that Adam and Eve did not even know the law. That is, God created man and did not set rules to govern him. A God of order did not put order in man, Hmmmm…

For their part, Adventists have as many or more errors than evangelicals about biblical reality. To begin with, they believe that their church “keeps the commandments of God and has the testimony of Jesus,” as Revelation 12:17 and 14:12 say. Well, here I leave you a little sample of how the Adventist Church keeps the law of God.

Members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church are filled with confusion. On the one hand, the church tells them that they must keep the law as the Bible says, and on the other hand, they teach them that this law is useless—AND THAT IT CANNOT BE KEPT!

So, as we always do at ChristTruth, we will take the biblical, not Adventist, approach—because the bread of God does not contain yeast (GAL. 5:9).

Genesis 2:17 tells us that Adam and Eve knew and understood the consequences of eating the forbidden “fruit”: DEATH. And if they understood what death is (ROM. 6:23), then they understood sin . And if they understood what sin is, then they knew—and understood the law, then—my dear friends and brothers—Sin is breaking the law! (1 JOHN 3:4).

And since Adam and Eve knew the law, the question that arises is, Did they keep the law?

Directly speaking, Adam and Eve did keep the Sabbath and the Bible says so. Let's start with the following text, which reveals an impressive message in the story of Noah:

4 AND THE ARK RESTED in the SEVENTH month, on the SIXTEENTH days of the month, on the mountains of Ararat.

5 And the waters decreased until the TENTH month; On the tenth, on the first of the month, the tops of the mountains were discovered. —GENESIS 8:4-5

The ark rested in the seventh month, comparatively as God rested in the seventh day. Interesting, right?

Curiously, in this text we have the words REPOSÓ, SEVENTH, TENTH. If we go to Exodus 20:8-11 there we will find the words REST, SEVENTH, framed in TEN commandments. That is, what happened in the story of Noah is a symbol of the rest of the fourth commandment, in this case for the earth itself.

Now let's get straight to the point. Santiago wrote the following:

10 For whoever keeps the whole law, but offends in one point, becomes guilty of all. —JAMES 2:10

That is, where a single point of the law was disobeyed, the entire law has been violated—period. But even more important for our topic today, where only one commandment of the law is mentioned, you must consider the other nine, even if they are not mentioned directly, since the law was given as a set. And where he mentions the word commandments or the word covenant, in reference to the law, he is talking about all the commandments, although only one or another commandment is being highlighted in said story. For example, in Matthew 19:16-19, Jesus told the rich young ruler that if he wanted to enter eternal life he had to keep the commandments of the law. And then Jesus mentioned a few to him—directly, particularly where this young man was failing. The law saves, and Jesus himself says so, and this shocks many and is difficult to understand or accept, even when Paul also tells them directly (Romans 2:13).

However, let us remember that to the ark of the covenant It is called the ark of the covenant because it contains the two tables of the covenant.-the ten Commandments (DEUT. 10:1-2, 5) (1 Kings 8:9) (Hebrews 9:4). That ark is the most sacred object mentioned in the entire Bible, and what makes this ark sacred is precisely those two “tablets, written with the finger of God” (EXD. 18:31), sacred covenant (ROM. 7:12) to the people he claims as his own until the end of time—and for eternity (DAN. 7:25-27, APC. 14:12).

You who have rejected the law so lightly just because your pastor or the church in which you congregate reject it, be very careful, because it is not to them that you will one day give an account, but to God himself. My recommendation is that you study this topic in fasting and prayer, putting any prejudices or preconceived ideas aside, letting God guide you, because your salvation could be at stake here.

I emphasize again that the ark of the covenant contains the covenant or testimony. Understanding all this, we can speed up, considering the following:

6 For I desire mercy, and not sacrifice, and the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings.
7
But THEM, WHICH ADAM, they crossed the pact; there they transgressed against me.

8
Gilead, a city of workers of iniquity, STAINED WITH BLOOD.
9
And how THIEVES that wait for some man, thus a company of priests BUSH on the road to Shechem; thus they committed an abomination.
10
In the house of Israel I have seen filth; over there FORNICÓ Ephraim, and HE contaminated Israell. —HOSEA 6:6-10

Hosea 6:7 clearly states that Adam received the same covenant that Israel received. And the other verses refer to the same law that we see in Exodus 20 and Deuteronomy 5. And Adam transgressed that covenant (1 John 3:4). And if one day he transgressed it, it is because one day he also kept it. And if one day he kept it, it was because one day someone gave it to him first. Take notes.

And if the Sabbath was made for Adam (MAR 2:27), ¿Would God allow Adam to violate the Sabbath on the very day of his creation? That just doesn't add up, but since the Sabbath was made for Adam, for his rest and refreshment, then how come Adam never rested on the Sabbath?

The Adventist lady I mentioned at the beginning made the argument that Adam did not have to keep the first Sabbath because he did not work, and therefore did not need to rest since the Bible says that God was the one who rested in Eden, because he worked first. I have listened to Stephen Bohr make that argument, and it is probably from teachings like that that members of the Adventist Church draw that theory. Theory that I myself one day believed...

To begin with, God did not rest because he got tired, because God does not get tired (ISA. 40:25). This means that what God did was stop working (shabbath) and leave an example for man, just as Mark 2:27 says. But man does get tired and he does need both to cease—to meet God, and to rest—to recover his strength. And don't forget—I repeat, that “The Sabbath was made for man,” not because of God, so that man may meet God on a day set aside for him (EXD.20:10, MAT 12:12).

HoweverDoes the Bible say that Adam did not work?

20 AND Adam NAMED EVERY beast and bird of the air and EVERY livestock of the field; but for Adam no help meet was found for him. —GENESIS 2:20

The Bible does say that Adam worked, and here we have evidence of that. Ah, but isn't giving a name work? Oh yeah, Try to name “every beast and bird of the air and every livestock of the field.” that God created. Have you ever gotten hoarse Or have you seen any announcer or singer get hoarse from talking or singing so much?

I imagine Adam had to eat too. And if he had to eat, he had to collect, carry, carry, store, etc. Adam did work!

Then you will say, “But Adam worked after the creation of the Sabbath.” Well, actually you and I can't say that since the Creation account in Genesis is not necessarily written in chronological order. For example, Genesis 1:26-27 talks about the creation of man, but does not give us many details about it. Then in verse 28 God commands man to rule over the animals and gives them the command to reproduce and fill the earth, and it is not until Genesis 2:7 and then 2:21-24 that we see how man was created . So the entire creation account is not in complete chronological order.

We cannot cite a verse that verbatim says that Adam worked before or after the first Sabbath, but all biblical evidence points to the fact that he did. Now, regardless of that, “The Sabbath was made for Adam.” Are you still not understanding that?

And what “The Sabbath was made for man,” and man was made in Eden, this implies that the Sabbath was not only made for Adam and Eve, but FOR ALL THE HUMANITY. That completely destroys the evangelical argument that the Sabbath was given to Israel alone.

22 You will have the SAME STATUTE for THE FOREIGNER, as for the native; for I am Jehovah your God. —LEVITICUS 24:22

God is the giver and keeper of his word and he was not going to let such an important principle be left to the interpretation of man:

1 Thus says Jehovah: Keep justice, and do justice; for my salvation is near to come, and my righteousness to be revealed.

2 Blessed is the man who does this, and the son of man who embraces him; who keeps the Sabbath so as not to profane it, and that keeps his hand from doing all evil.

3 AND Let the foreigner who follows Jehovah not speak, saying: Jehovah will completely separate me from his people.. Nor let the eunuch say: Behold, I am a dry tree.

4 For thus says the Lord: To the eunuchs who keep my Sabbaths, and choose what I will, and embrace my covenant,

5 I will give them a place in my house and within my walls, and a name better than that of sons and daughters; I will give them a perpetual name that will never perish.

6 And to the children of THE FOREIGNERS that they follow Jehovah to serve him, and that they love the name of Jehovah to be his servants; TO ALL THOSE WHO KEEP THE SABBATH DAY so as not to desecrate it, and embrace my pact,

7 I will take you to my holy mountain, and I will recreate them in my house of prayer; Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be accepted on my altar; because my house will be called a house of prayer for all peoples.

says the Lord God, who gathers together the dispersed of Israel: I will even gather his gathered together to him. —ISAIAH 56:1-8

That is very clear, dear reader.

Many believe that the Sabbath—along with the entire law—was given there at Sinai, solely and exclusively. However, the Bible is emphatic that this is not so. Not only because of what Hosea 6:7 says, but also because Israel always knew the law, since before Israel existed, the law had already been given. Let's consider the following text:

4 And the LORD said to Moses, Behold, I will rain bread for you from heaven; and the people will go out and gather a day's portion daily, SO THAT I CAN PROVE IF IT WALKS IN MY LAW, OR NOT.

5 But on THE SIXTH DAY they will prepare to KEEP DOUBLE what they usually collect each day. —EXODUS 16:4-5

Here we are talking about the law of the ten commandments, even before the tables had been given at Sinai. (EXD. 20:1-21). And particularly, God is testing Israel regarding the Sabbath (seventh) day, the fourth commandment of the law. And wasn't the Sabbath given solely and exclusively on Sinai? Well, following the instructions of Isaiah 28:10-13, when we look at the text of the fourth commandment we find the following:

8 REMEMBER of the Sabbath day to sanctify it. […] —EXODUS 20:8

Remember, because it had already been given. And in Exodus 16:4-5 it is not mentioned that it was there that the Sabbath was given, but that there Israel was being tested by a law that they already knew. This brings us again and directly to creation:

1 So the heavens and the earth were finished, and all their host.
2 And God finished the work that he did on the seventh day; and REPOSE the day SEVENTH of all the work he did.
3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it, because on it he rested from all the work that he had done. in the creationn. —GENESIS 2:1-3

That is where the Sabbath was given, in the Beginning!

And it is very interesting, that before Israel received the law written in Exodus 20, they were tested with the Sabbath. And Israel being a polluted people, he disobeyed right there—and God warned him. Shortly after, God gives them the written law, so that they record it and carry it in their minds and decontaminate their hearts, because “the law is holy.” (ROM. 7:1).

1 Then the whole congregation of the children of Israel left Elim, and came to the desert of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after they left the land of Egypt.

And all the congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron in the desert;

And the children of Israel said to them, “I wish we had died by the hand of the Lord in the land of Egypt, when we sat at the pots of meat, when we ate bread until we were satisfied; for you have brought us out into this desert to starve all this multitude.

And the Lord said to Moses: Behold, I will rain bread for you from heaven; and the people will come out, And he will gather a day's portion daily, so that I can prove it if it walks in my law, or not.

But on the sixth day they will prepare to save double of what they usually collect each day.

6 Then Moses and Aaron said to all the children of Israel: In the evening you will know that the Lord has brought you out of the land of Egypt,

and in the morning you will see the glory of the Lord; for he has heard your murmurings against the Lord; For what are we that you should murmur against us?

Moses also said: The Lord will give you meat to eat in the evening, and bread in the morning to fill you; for the Lord has heard your murmurings with which you have murmured against him; because we, what are we? Your murmurings are not against us, but against Jehovah.

9 And Moses said to Aaron, Say unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, Come nigh unto the presence of the Lord, for he hath heard your murmurings.

10 And Aaron spoke to all the congregation of the children of Israel, and they looked toward the wilderness, and behold, the glory of the Lord appeared in the cloud.

11 And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying:

12 I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel; Speak to them, saying: In the evening you will eat meat, and in the morning you will be satisfied with bread, and you will know that I am the Lord your God.

13 And when evening came, quails came up and covered the camp; and in the morning dew fell around the camp.

14 And when the dew ceased to descend, behold, on the face of the desert, a small, round thing, small as frost on the earth.

15 And when the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, What is this? because they didn't know what it was. Then Moses said to them: It is the bread that Jehovah gives you to eat.

16 This is what the Lord has commanded: Gather from it each one according to what he can eat; one omer per head, according to the number of your people, you shall take each one for those who are in his tent.

17 And the children of Israel did so; and they gathered some more, some less;

18 and they measured it by omer, and there was no surplus to him who had gathered much, nor lack to him who had gathered little; Each one gathered according to what he had to eat.

19 And Moses said to them: Let no one leave any of it until tomorrow..

20 But they did not obey Moses, but some left it for another day, and it bred worms, and it stank; and Moses was angry with them.

21 And they gathered it every morning, each one according to what he had to eat; and after the sun got hot, it melted.

22 On the sixth day they collected a double portion for food, two omeres for each one; and all the princes of the congregation came and told Moses.

23 And he said to them: This is what the Lord has said: Tomorrow is the holy day of rest, the rest consecrated to Jehovah; What you have to cook, cook it today, and what you have to cook, cook it; and whatever you have left, save it for tomorrow.

24 And they kept it until the morning, according to what Moses had commanded, and it did not worm, nor did it stink.

25 And Moses said: Eat it today, because today is a day of rest to Jehovah; today you will not find in the field.

26 Six days you will collect it; more him seventh day is a day of rest; It will not be found in it.

27 And it came to pass that Some of the people went out on the seventh day to gather, AND THEY WILL NOT FIND.

28 And the Lord said to Moses: How long will you not want to keep my commandments and my laws?

29 Look what The Lord gave you the Sabbath, and that is why on the sixth day he gives you bread for two days. So let everyone stay in his place, and let no one go out on the seventh day.

30 So the people rested on the seventh day.

31 And the house of Israel called it Manna; and it was like coriander seed, white, and its taste was like flakes with honey.

32 And Moses said, This is what the Lord has commanded: Fill an omer with it, and keep it for your descendants, so that they may see the bread that I gave you to eat in the desert, when I brought you out of the land of Egypt.

33 And Moses said to Aaron, Take a vessel, and put in it an omer of manna, and set it before the LORD, that it may be kept for your descendants.

34 And Aaron set him before the Testimony [TABLES OF THE LAW] to keep it, as the Lord commanded Moses.

35 Thus the children of Israel ate manna for forty years, until they came to an inhabited land; They ate manna until they reached the borders of the land of Canaan.

36 And an omer is a tenth of an ephah. —EXODUS 16:1-36

When you study God's word, you have to pay attention to the small details and sequence of events so that you can connect and understand the essence of God's message to you. Another thing, polluting your mind with TV or social media on entertainment things will cloud your senses, and discernment will move away from you. Pray, fast, study, and let the Holy Spirit do the rest.

Many claim that the Bible does not say that Adam and Eve kept the Sabbath. No, the Bible does not say it explicitly, but it does say it implicitly—that is, in principle. We could also argue that Hosea 6:7 says it directly, since the text is talking about the entire covenant, and the Sabbath is part of that covenant. That is what we have been demonstrating, and the words of Jesus in Mark 2:27-28 are irrefutable, for anyone who still wants to deny the Sabbath as the Lord's Day, for the people who serve him:

27 He also said to them: The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath.

28 Therefore, the Son of Man is LORD even of the Sabbath. —MARK 2:27-28

We have asked it in the past, and I ask it again now: If Jesus is the Lord of the Sabbath, what is the day of the lord?

No, the Bible does not literally tell you “Adam rested,” any more than it tells you “Jesus rested,” and Jesus said “I am the lord of the Sabbath.” Now, I challenge anyone to give me A SINGLE BIBLICAL TEXT THAT SAYS THAT ADAM AND EVE DID NOT KEEP THE SHABBATH. So why automatically take the stance that they didn't save it? Could it be that you are following other people's interests, which are not those of God? This is where Isaiah 28:13 comes in; You have to scrutinize my friends.

And if you compare Genesis 2:1-3 With the fourth commandment, you will realize that Exodus 20:8-13 and Deuteronomy 5:12-15 They are actually an excerpt that comes directly from Genesis 2:1-3.

8 Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy.
9 Six days you will work, and you will do all your work;
10 more him SEVENTH day is REPOSE to Jehovah your God; Do not do any work in it, you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your maidservant, nor your beast, nor your foreigner who is within your gates.
11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day; Therefore, Jehovah blessed the Sabbath day and sanctified it. —EXODUS 20:8-11

The Sabbath of the Lord, from Genesis to Revelation

The Sabbath of The Lord, from Genesis to Revelation

Genesis 2:1-3 and Exodus 20:8-11 are practically the same text, with some variations in the way each is written. What this implies is that more than an example, what Adam received from God in Genesis 2:1-3 was a commandment. But no matter how you want to look at it, example or commandment, you must still observe it. Or could it be that you don't want to follow God's example?

The word of God says:

11 My feet have followed his steps; I kept your path, and I did not turn away. —JOB 23:11

21 For this is what you were called; because Christ also suffered for us, LEAVING US AN EXAMPLE, SO THAT YOU FOLLOW IN THEIR FOOTSTEPS; —1 PETER 2:21

6 He who says that he abides in him, must walk as he walked. —1 JOHN 2:6

Job said “I kept his way.” And what does it mean to keep the way of God?

1 Blessed are THOSE PERFECT IN THE WAY, THOSE WHO WALK IN THE LAW of Jehovah. —PSALMS 119:1

AND “Enoch”—another patriarch, "I walk with God"Don't forget that. (GEN. 5:22)

God's people began with Adam and Eve, not in the book of Matthew or Acts, and they were created with the law written on their hearts. But when the time came, Israel defiled his heart in Egypt. And then God gives them the law in written form, and that is why he told them “remember” what was already established that you received from your Parents. This is not speculation, it is searching the Bible, “line upon line…” (ISA. 28:13).

It all comes back to the beginning, my beloved readers. The law was put in man's heart from the beginning. The ancient serpent introduced sin, and man began to distance himself from God until he became aware of his slavery in Egypt, where the law took a second place, since they were slaves. And the slave has no control over his own time or his own life. Then our merciful God takes Israel out of Egypt, gives them the written law so that they can engrave it in their hearts and promulgate it to the world. (ROM. 9:4, MAT. 28:19-20), and later he reveals the following to us.

THE LAW IN THE HEART

31 Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, in which I will make a new covenant with the house of Jacob and the house of Judah:

32 Not like the covenant I made with their fathers on the day I took their hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they invalidated my covenantWell, I was a husband to them, says the Lord:

33 But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put my law in their minds, and I will WRITE IT ON THEIR HEART; and I will be their God, and they will be my people.

34 And no man shall teach his neighbor any more, nor any man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will no longer remember his sin. —JEREMIAH 31:31-33

So, the remaining question would be: Do you want to walk with God—following in His footsteps as Enoch did or would you rather follow in the footsteps of the Beast? The decision is yours, but the command has already been given—from the beginning.
